Brussels, June 27, 2025 (LANA) - The European Council announced the extension of the mandate of the European Border Assistance Mission for Integrated Border Management (EUBAM-Libya) for an additional two years, until June 30, 2027, with a budget of approximately (52) million euros for this period.
A statement issued by the European Mission in Libya stated that the European Border Assistance Mission for Integrated Border Management (EUBAM-Libya) contributes to strengthening the capacity of the Libyan authorities to manage Libya's borders, combat cross-border crime—including human trafficking and migrant smuggling—and combat terrorism.
The statement explained that the civilian mission provides technical advice, conducts operational and technical capacity-building activities, and implements projects, complemented by specialized training courses and workshops. It stressed that ensuring full respect for international human rights standards and promoting a gender-sensitive approach are essential aspects of the mission's work.
