Tripoli, June 25, 2025 - (LANA) The Ministry of Justice of the Government of National Unity held a meeting today, Wednesday, on the National Human Rights Committee established by a Cabinet decision in 2022. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Military Prosecutor General.

The meeting's topics included the National Human Rights Committee, the letter issued by the Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, and a presentation of the report of the Monitoring and Documentation Team on human rights violations observed during March 2025.

Minister of Justice Halima Al-Bousifi told the Libyan News Agency that the meeting reviewed the national plan within the national strategy to be adopted by the Council of Ministers for the years 2024 to 2027, as well as the international report on the report of the National Committee chaired by the Minister of Justice.

Halima Al-Bousifi added that the goal of the plan is to present and present Libya's commitments to international bodies, the United Nations, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. She explained that the National Committee for Human Rights fulfilled its role and presented its briefing last July, which was praised by international bodies. The committee was satisfied with technical support and did not address international mechanisms.
