Tetteh meets with Civil Society Organizations.

Tripoli, June 24, 2025 (LANA) - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, and her Deputy for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, held a meeting with (26) representatives of civil society organizations from (Tripoli, Sabratha, Misrata, Zawiya, Sirte, Sabha, Tarhona, and Ghat) to brief them on the latest political and security developments, including the Mission's efforts to de-escalate the situation and the recent meeting of the International Follow-Up Committee on Libya, which was held in Berlin in support of the UN-facilitated political process.

The UN Mission reported that, the participants emphasized the importance of moving forward with comprehensive security sector reform in parallel with the political process, and stressed the need to include accountability mechanisms in any political roadmap.

The women also unanimously welcomed the Advisory Committee's recommendation to increase women's representation in legislative bodies to 30 percent, and discussed strategies to enhance women's active participation in the broader electoral process.
