The Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Unity hosts a meeting on the difficulties facing Libyan expatriates abroad.

Tripoli, June 23, 2025 (LANA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity hosted an expanded meeting in Tripoli on Monday to discuss resolving all the difficulties facing Libyan expatriates abroad.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director of the Department of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs and relevant departments within the Ministry participated in the meeting, in addition to the directors of the technical and legal departments of the Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Authority, the Civil Status Authority, the Libyan Intelligence Service, and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Interior.
The meeting discussed the implementation of recommendations emerging from previous meetings, including the formation of a technical and legal committee and defining its tasks to develop technical and legal frameworks through which all difficulties and obstacles facing the comprehensive settlement of the status of Libyan expatriates abroad will be resolved.
According to the Ministry, this committee includes all the relevant bodies mentioned above and consists of the directors of the technical and legal departments in each entity. The Ministry emphasized that this step comes within the framework of finalizing the national strategy to support and care for Libyan expatriates abroad, which is currently being developed.
