Al-Koni and Al-Lafi stressed the need for all military formations to adhere to the orders and instructions issued by the Presidential Council, to preserve security and stability in the capital, Tripoli.

Tripoli, June 22, 2025 (LANA) – Musa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, the two deputies of the Presidential Council – in their capacity as Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army – stressed on Sunday the need for all military formations to adhere to the orders and instructions issued by the Presidential Council, in order to maintain security and stability in the capital, Tripoli.

This came during their meeting today, Sunday, with the head and members of the committee formed by Resolution No. (2) of this year, tasked with following up on the implementation of the ceasefire. The committee includes the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, his assistant, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Din Al-Namroush, the chiefs of staff, the commander of the Central Military Region, the Chief of Operations, and the Director of the Military Police Department.

The head and members of the committee briefed Al-Koni and Al-Lafi on the committee's work, the latest developments in the military and security situation in the capital, and the recent results achieved in consolidating the ceasefire.

According to the Presidential Council's media office, the committee's chairman and members emphasized the importance of providing the committee with the technical and logistical capabilities that enable it to optimally perform its assigned tasks, ensuring the continuity of its efforts and the achievement of desired national goals.

For his part, the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army reiterated his commitment to monitoring the committee's work and continuing to provide it with all forms of support. He also decided to strengthen the committee's executive powers, commensurate with the nature of its tasks, as the body authorized to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and achieve its objectives within the sovereign and military framework of the Libyan state.
