Tripoli Central Municipality Communication Committee: Despite the cooperation and understanding of the parties, we have not received any commitments regarding a cessation of hostilities in the capital.

Tripoli, June 21, 2025 (LANA) – The Communications Committee, formed by a decision of the Tripoli Central Municipal Council, considered the bloody clashes witnessed in the capital, Tripoli, to reflect a dangerous level of irresponsibility and disregard for civilian lives, resulting in significant damage to public and private property.

In a statement during a press conference held today, Saturday, the committee explained that, immediately after its formation, it began its duties related to monitoring the repercussions of the unfortunate events that took place in the capital on May 12-13. This was done through direct communication with the Prime Minister, the General Staff, all relevant armed groups, and the relevant parties involved in efforts to de-escalate and resolve the conflict.

The committee appreciated the cooperation of a number of national figures and active parties who demonstrated a sincere concern for the security of the capital and the safety of its residents. However, despite the understanding of many parties of the seriousness of the escalation and the need for de-escalation, unfortunately, we have not yet received any official confirmations or clear commitments regarding a cessation of hostilities, which keeps the capital under real threat and undermines its chances of stability.

The committee noted that its efforts have culminated in a number of important initiatives, including contributing to the formation of a conflict resolution committee. However, these steps still require real political and military support that translates into actual commitments on the ground.

The Tripoli Municipality Communication Committee concluded its statement by emphasizing the importance of continuing to strengthen communication with all parties and intensifying efforts to spare the capital further tension and confrontations that could endanger the lives and interests of civilians.
