The Attorney General is following up with the Central Bank and the National Oil Corporation on the results of halting the crude oil-for-fuel swap.

Tripoli, June 21, 2025 (LANA) – The meeting of Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour last week with both the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Masoud Suleiman Musa, focused on following up on measures to prevent harm to public funds.

Al-Sour's meeting with Naji Issa and Masoud Suleiman addressed the results of the cessation of the crude oil-for-fuel barter system, and the impact of replacing this system with public tenders on the regular disbursement of public funds for their designated purpose.

According to what was published today, Saturday, by the Attorney General's Office on its official page, the meeting discussed the recorded observations regarding the results of the work of the committee to determine the local market's fuel needs, and reviewed views on possible measures to be planned regarding commercial activities related to the oil sector, and the harm they cause to public funds and the public interest.
