Tripoli, June 21, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) noted that the participants in the Berlin-3 meeting of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya expressed, in their closing statement, their deep concern over the recent armed clashes in populated areas, particularly in Tripoli, which have resulted in loss of life and damage to civilian infrastructure.

The mission confirmed in a post on Saturday that the meeting participants pointed to the failure to adhere to international humanitarian law and human rights law throughout the country, stressing the need for all parties in Libya to refrain from the use of violent means to resolve conflicts.

The mission noted that they welcomed the formation of the Truce Committee and the Security Arrangements Committee of the Presidential Council and expressed support for their work. They recalled the Security Council statement issued on May 17, which called for those responsible for attacks against civilians to be held accountable.
