Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences: Saturday is the first day of summer in Libya.

Tripoli, June 21, 2025 (LANA) – The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences announced that Saturday, June 21, marks the first day of summer in Libya, coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

The center explained, via its website, that this day is the longest daylight and shortest night of the year, while the Southern Hemisphere simultaneously experiences the winter solstice.

The center added that the summer solstice occurred astronomically at 4:42 a.m. Libyan time, and that this year's summer lasts 93 days, 15 hours, and 37.2 minutes.

In the same context, the National Center for Meteorology expects temperatures today to rise significantly above average in the northeastern regions, while remaining relatively moderate in the rest of the country, especially the northwest.
