Fires devour palm forests in Tazirbu, and the municipal council issues a distress call.

Tazirbu, June 18, 2025 (LANA) - Large fires broke out Wednesday evening in the papyrus palm forests in the Ain al-Talib area of the Tazirbu municipality, amid intensive efforts by Civil Defense teams to contain and control the blaze.
The Tazirbu Municipal Council issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to owners of water tankers and bulldozers to immediately head to the site of the fire in Ain al-Talib, urging everyone to cooperate in supporting the Civil Defense teams, who are still working under difficult conditions to control the blaze.
The council explained that the fires are consuming everything and threaten to reach residential areas, calling for intensified efforts to protect property and residents, especially as the flames are heading toward homes.
Journalist Khraisi Qashqash told the Libyan News Agency that these fires are an extension of previous incidents witnessed in the area, stressing that the flames are spreading rapidly due to the lack of resources.
Qashqash reiterated his call for the establishment of a dedicated water collection site in the area, which would contribute to improving the efficiency of emergency response and enabling civil defense teams to deliver water to firefighting sites in a timely manner.
