Tripoli, June 18, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, Major General Imad Al-Trabulsi, affirmed that the ministry is working according to a clear vision to establish security, enhance the presence of police stations, and ensure effective coordination with the Ministry of Defense and the Internal Security Service.
In a speech during a security meeting attended by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, he said that the Ministry of Interior has been making significant security efforts for years, but the overlap of responsibilities has had a negative impact on the ministry's work.
He added that the Ministry of Interior's police officers are responsible for protecting citizens and maintaining security, and they must be supported in appreciation of their efforts.
Trabulsi explained that any error committed by an individual member of the security forces will be held accountable according to the law and will not be attributed to the entire security system.
The Minister of Interior noted that the Libyan police continue their daily work in the field, and their efforts are evident to citizens on the street.
Trabulsi affirmed their commitment to implementing the security plan in accordance with the instructions issued by the Prime Minister's Office, ensuring the protection of citizens and state institutions.
For his part, Tripoli Security Director Major General Khalil Ouhaiba confirmed that the field plan included 187 new security deployments, implemented in locations previously occupied by armed groups. He noted that the redeployment was carefully planned to secure the capital's key areas, end any security vacuum, and fully extend state authority.
Those present at the meeting emphasized that the plan's success depends on continued political and administrative support for the security forces and strengthening citizens' confidence in their institutions.
