Tripoli, June 18, 2025 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, chaired a security meeting at the Ministry of Interior headquarters on Wednesday, attended by the acting Minister of Interior, the Director of Tripoli Security, and a number of ministry officials. The meeting discussed security arrangements in the capital and ways to enhance security and stability.

Dbaiba affirmed in his speech during the meeting that the Ministry of Interior has become the sole entity responsible for securing the capital, for the first time since 2011. He noted the formation of two committees, in coordination with the Presidential Council, to oversee security arrangements and monitor prison conditions.

The Prime Minister stated, "We have reached a stage that qualifies the Ministries of Interior and Defense to establish the state and its institutions. The era of the sheikh and the hajj in our security and military apparatuses is over."

Dbaiba continued, "Today we are moving from a phase of challenge to a phase of empowerment, from chaos to consolidating the pillars of the state. Everyone has submitted to the state's project and its sovereign measures." He emphasized that what has been achieved is a true victory for the state, which would not have been possible without the elimination of the largest criminal militia.

He called on the Tripoli Security Directorate to set a strong example for all municipalities and neighborhoods, addressing the attendees that their commitment to securing demonstrations and their success in the self-control test reflects their security maturity.

He added that the demonstrations witnessed in the capital during the recent period passed without any assault, harassment, arrest, or prosecution, which reflects the maturity of the Ministry of Interior and its deep respect for public freedoms and citizens' natural rights to peaceful expression.

Dbaiba emphasized that no prison should be allowed outside state control, saying, "No to secret prisons, no to the assassinations of representatives of the people, no to locks, no to chains, and no to the humiliation of women."

The Prime Minister emphasized that cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the Internal Security Service is essential at this stage, emphasizing that arrests and detentions should fall solely under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior and be supervised by the Public Prosecution.
