Al-Lafi discusses the latest political developments in the country with the Italian ambassador to Libya.

Tripoli, June 15, 2025 (LANA) – Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed on Sunday the latest developments in the country's political scene with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, in addition to a number of regional issues.

Al-Lafi reiterated the Presidential Council's commitment to supporting the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and to constructively cooperating with the outcomes of its advisory committee. He noted that creating the appropriate conditions for holding elections represents a top national priority and an indispensable path to moving the country toward lasting peace and sustainable stability.

For his part, the Italian Ambassador affirmed during the meeting his country's support for the Presidential Council's efforts to consolidate calm and extend security through the Military Committee formed by Resolution No. (2).

Gianluca Alberini also praised the Presidential Council's keenness to manage the current phase wisely and responsibly, ensuring the preservation of the political process.
