Mnifi meets with UN review team.

Tripoli, June 15, 2025 (LANA) - President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Mnifi, stressed the importance of ensuring that the UN mission's roles are aligned with the aspirations of the Libyan people in supporting stability, stimulating the political process, and addressing economic and security challenges, thus strengthening the state's sovereignty and decision-making independence.

This was made clear during his reception today, Sunday, at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli, of the UN Strategic Review Team, consisting of the team's chair, Assistant Secretary-General Daniela Kroslak; Anthony Cardon de Lichtbur from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights; Christina Heumann from the Development Coordination Office; Senior Political Officer Ali Ahmed; and Political Affairs Officer Mohamed Othman.

During the meeting, according to the media office of the Council President, the team's evaluation role in reviewing the performance of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) was discussed. The goal is to enhance the mission's effectiveness and adapt its tasks to the priorities and needs of the current phase in the country.

For their part, the team members affirmed their keenness to listen to national perspectives and incorporate them into their comprehensive evaluation process. They indicated that the review's findings will be submitted to the UN Secretary-General.
