Kofra, June 15, 2025 (LANA) - Teams from the Kufra Ambulance and Emergency Service rushed to the scene of fires that broke out in palm farms surrounding the city of Kufra on Saturday evening. This is part of the service's efforts to quickly intervene and provide medical and relief support to those affected.
Services official Ibrahim Balhassan told (WAL) that the service's tasks are limited to monitoring the approach of fires to residential areas and providing urgent medical aid, while other competent authorities are responsible for extinguishing the fires. He indicated that the teams are working to rescue trapped families, transport the injured, and recover bodies in the event of deaths. He emphasized their continued presence to preserve the safety of residents and prepare to intervene when needed.
He explained that the fires affected palm farms, which represent a significant economic and food resource in Kufra, with approximately 150,000 palm trees in the city and its suburbs. Balhassan called on citizens to stay away from fire sites and immediately report any emergencies, stressing ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the situation is under control.
