The delegation included the Ministers of Health, Othman Abdul Jalil; Social Affairs, Mabrouk Ghaith; and State Minister for Communications, Khaled Al-Saadawi. The delegation also included the Undersecretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Faraj Aqaim; the Chairman of the Libyan Relief Agency, Salem Bouzraida; and the Secretary-General of the Libyan Red Crescent, Omar Jaouda. The meeting was also attended by the Consul General of the State of Palestine, Imad Al-Attili.
The delegation discussed with the head and members of the coordination committee of the Maghreb Al-Somoud Convoy, which is heading to the Rafah crossing in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and in an effort to break the siege imposed on Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its official page that Libya's firm position on the Palestinian issue was affirmed, considering it a national issue of concern to all Libyans. It was emphasized that the Libyan position is not open to compromise or questioning, while recalling the sovereign decisions taken, including treating Palestinians as Libyans and the House of Representatives' decision to criminalize all forms of normalization with the Zionist entity.
According to the Ministry's publication, Palestinian Consul Imad Al-Attili praised the official and popular Libyan position, expressing his thanks to Libya for its continued support. The government also praised the popular initiatives in support of Palestine, including the call for a mass march on Sunday, June 15. Details of the convoy's organization were also discussed, emphasizing the need to adhere to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement regarding coordination through the relevant embassies.
It is noteworthy that the "Al-Somoud Convoy" to break the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip was stopped from Thursday night to Friday at the entrance to the city of Sirte, awaiting security approvals to allow it to cross and continue on its way to the Libyan-Egyptian border.
