Tripoli, June 12, 2025 (LANA) - Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi said that the security measures recently implemented in the capital, Tripoli, represent an important step in a longer process toward consolidating stability, ending the influence of outlaw groups, and enabling the army and police institutions to fully perform their roles.
During his meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, on Thursday, Al-Lafi affirmed that the government is proceeding with its project aimed at ending armed demonstrations and prosecuting those involved in violations through an integrated security and judicial process based on state sovereignty and the protection of citizens' rights, according to the "Our Government" platform.
In preparation for the Berlin meeting, the minister emphasized that the government's participation seeks to highlight the progress achieved, affirm the unity of state institutions, and reject any parallel arrangements. He called for support for the efforts of the United Nations mission to complete the transitional phase and move toward permanent elections based on a clear constitutional basis.
