IAEA adopts a resolution against Iran.

Pulbished on:

Vienna, June 12, 2025 (LANA) - The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution today, Thursday, confirming Iran's non-compliance with its obligations under the nuclear safeguards agreement, the first such step in nearly twenty years.

IAEA sources reported that the text was supported by Britain, France, and Germany, and joined by the United States. It was adopted with the support of 19 of the 35 members of the IAEA Board of Governors, with three countries opposing it and eleven countries abstaining.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, condemned the resolution, describing it as "ignoring Iran's extensive and ongoing cooperation with the IAEA," according to the Iranian News Agency.

Iran accused the resolution of repeating Israel's "fabricated" allegations about undeclared nuclear activities at several Iranian sites, and considered the resolution's goal to reopen the Iranian nuclear file before the UN Security Council by reviving the "possible military dimensions" (PMD) issue, which had been closed after the signing of the nuclear agreement in 2015.
