Al-Baour holds a series of meetings in China

Beijing, June 11, 2025 (LANA) – The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Ministerial-Level Coordinators' Meeting for the Implementation of the Outcomes of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, held in Changsha, China.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Al-Baour discussed bilateral relations with the Somali Foreign Minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, noting that the two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in vital areas and supporting stability and development efforts in both countries.

The Ministry added that the Somali Minister expressed his country's full support for Libya, based on his country's non-permanent membership in the Security Council (2025-2026). Al-Baour reiterated Libya's support for Somalia's stability, and agreed to exchange official visits soon.

Al-Baour also met with Chen Xiaodong, President of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, to discuss the resumption of the Chinese embassy's operations in Tripoli, the return of Chinese companies to Libya, and strengthening development cooperation.

The ministry indicated that these meetings are part of Libya's efforts to strengthen its diplomatic presence and expand its international partnerships to serve the path of stability and reconstruction.
