Al-Juwaifi meets with a number of municipal mayors to discuss the difficulties facing municipal work.

Tripoli, June 4, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity, Abdul Shafi' Al-Juwaifi, held a face-to-face meeting on Wednesday with approximately 50 mayors from various regions.

The Minister emphasized that this meeting was intended to familiarize themselves with the municipalities and to listen to the problems and difficulties facing them. He emphasized that municipalities are the authorities closest to citizens and are most familiar with their needs and priorities.

He added that an expanded meeting will be held with the mayors after Eid al-Adha to discuss in-depth all matters related to municipal work and issues of concern to them.

For their part, the mayors present addressed a number of issues related to municipal work, administrative and financial procedures, development projects, and the problems and difficulties facing their work.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the mayors affirmed their categorical rejection of parallel and ill-considered budgets, emphasizing that the budgets allocated to the so-called reconstruction fund will impose significant financial burdens on the state and will be at the expense of citizens, who will be the primary and greatest victims, according to the ministry's media office.
