Tripoli, June 2, 2025 (LANA) - Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed on Monday with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Libya, Sophie Kimkhaddze, the latest developments in the electoral process and the challenges facing the implementation of upcoming elections.

The meeting discussed the technical and advisory support provided by the international community to the HNEC, particularly in the areas of electoral management and organization, to enhance its efficiency and credibility.

Kimkhaddze praised the efforts made by the HNEC throughout the various stages of the electoral process, affirming the continued commitment of the UNDP, along with donor countries, to supporting the democratic process in Libya and contributing to creating the appropriate conditions for holding free, transparent, and inclusive elections.

The HNEC indicated that this meeting comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the HNEC and its international partners, with the aim of continuing to build on the achievements made and preparing for the implementation of the upcoming stages of the upcoming elections, ensuring a broad base of political participation.
