The Egyptian Foreign Minister and the US President's Advisor for Arab Affairs discuss developments in Libya by phone.

Cairo, June 1, 2025 (LANA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty discussed developments in Libya with the US President's Senior Advisor for Arab and Middle East Affairs and Senior Advisor for Africa, Massad Boulos.

Abdel Aty reviewed, via a phone call from Boulos, the outcomes of the Tripartite Mechanism meeting of Libya's neighboring countries, held in Cairo yesterday with the participation of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia. The meeting emphasized the need to maintain security and stability throughout Libya, safeguard the capabilities of the Libyan state, and respect its unity and territorial integrity.

According to what was published on the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website, Abdel Aty stressed during the call the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign forces, mercenaries, and foreign fighters from Libya and the dismantling of armed groups, which would contribute to restoring security and stability in Libya.

For his part, Boulos expressed the importance of working to achieve stability in Libya and end the current state of division.
