Tripoli, May 31, 2025 (LANA) - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) revealed that approximately (313) thousand Sudanese refugees have arrived in Libya since the beginning of the conflict in Sudan until last April, an increase of (256) thousand refugees over the previous month.
In a report issued on Thursday, the UNHCR predicted that there would be (621) thousand Sudanese refugees in need by the end of 2025, an increase of 40%, or (446) thousand people in need since November 2024, according to the 2025 Refugee Response Plan.
The World Food Programme (WFP) revealed its urgent need for funding of $13.5 million to enable it to continue providing the necessary support to Sudanese refugees in Libya.
The WFP noted that it would not be able to continue providing assistance to the targeted refugees unless it received additional funding due to the limited funding.
