Tripoli, May 30, 2025 (LANA) – Attorney General Siddiq Al-Sour issued two decisions forming two committees to investigate incidents and complaints related to suspected violations committed by members of the security services and crimes committed during the recent demonstrations in the capital, Tripoli.

A circular issued by the Attorney General's Office, early Friday morning, explained that the first committee will investigate complaints filed against members of the Central Security and Stability Support Services, and their affiliated security units, regarding allegations of human rights violations.

The second committee will examine incidents of injuries sustained by demonstrators and security personnel during demonstrations, investigate the causes of death of a number of inmates in correctional and rehabilitation institutions, as well as civilian deaths and injuries, and thefts of public and private property during the unrest in Tripoli during the current month of May.

The office confirmed that the two committees had already begun investigations after receiving notifications from judicial authorities. They began completing the investigation and evidence collection procedures, including hearing the statements of victims and witnesses, conducting inspections and searches, interrogating the accused, and referring a number of cases to the competent technical authorities.

The Public Prosecutor's Office called on citizens and anyone with information or complaints related to the incidents covered by the committees' work to submit them to the following offices:

Committee to Investigate Complaints and Violations by Security Services: Headquartered in the South Tripoli Primary Prosecution Office in the Al-Falah area.
