Dbaiba appoints Minister of Labor, as Minister of Education and to run the Ministry of Oil and Gas

Tripoli, May 29, 2025 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, appointed Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali al-Abed, as Minister of Education, in addition to his current duties.

The government has not announced further details regarding the reasons for this assignment or its expected duration. However, it comes after a court issued a prison sentence against Education Minister Musa al-Magariaf on corruption charges related to the ministry.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, appointed al-Abed to temporarily manage the Ministry of Oil, due to Minister Khalifa Abdul Sadiq's leave to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

Al-Abed has held the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation portfolio since the formation of the Government of National Unity. He previously headed the Ministry of Oil and Gas, and oversaw several portfolios related to the country's workforce and vocational training programs, in addition to his assignment to the Ministry of Civil Service.
