Baghdad, May 28, 2025 (LANA) – Kamal Al-Siwi, Chairman of the General Authority for Research and Identification of Missing Persons, participated in the regional meeting of experts on missing persons in the North Africa and Middle East region, at the invitation of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Commission on Missing Persons.

The summit was attended by a number of international organizations concerned with the issue of missing persons from Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen, and Palestine.

The General Authority for Research and Identification of Missing Persons explained that Al-Siwi provided a briefing on the experience of the State of Libya, represented by the Government of National Unity, and the achievements made in the missing persons file, including the efforts made to address several issues related to this humanitarian issue.

The Libyan file received widespread attention during the discussion sessions and presentations from various countries. The Authority's success in localizing DNA analysis technology and its use in identifying unidentified bodies was praised, according to the Authority.
