Tripoli, May 28, 2025 (LANA) – The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Libya, Joost Klaerink, discussed with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Libya, Stephanie Khoury, ways to support a Libyan-led political process based on international humanitarian law and human rights principles.
Ambassador Klaerink explained in a tweet posted on Wednesday on his X account that the meeting, which he described as fruitful, also addressed several priority issues, including security sector reform, empowering civil society organizations, and promoting justice for detainees.
The ambassador affirmed his country's commitment to supporting the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) aimed at organizing transparent and credible elections, which will contribute to achieving sustainable political stability in the country.
