Tripoli, May 26, 2025 (LANA) - The General Electricity Company announced today, Monday, the completion of charging and operating transformer No. (2) at Bir al-Usta Milad power station east of Tripoli, with a capacity of 220/30 kV. This comes after a shutdown that lasted for more than five years due to technical malfunctions and a lack of necessary spare parts.
The company confirmed that the transformer's restart was successfully completed after the required spare parts were made available. This is part of an integrated plan aimed at rehabilitating the transmission network infrastructure and improving the level of service provided to citizens in the Ein Zara and Tajoura areas, which previously experienced repeated outages due to pressure on the network and a lack of operational capacity.
It's worth noting, that the Bir al-Usta Milad power station is a strategic component of the electricity transmission system, playing a pivotal role in supplying vast areas of the capital and surrounding areas. This makes the re-operation of this transformer a step with a direct impact on enhancing the security and stability of the electricity supply.
