Tripoli, May 26, 2025 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity welcomed the announcement by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reactivate the Tunisian Consulate General in Benghazi.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry explained that this "important" step reflects the two brotherly countries' belief in the importance of promoting common interests and consolidating political and diplomatic cooperation between them, which will positively impact the development of cooperation in various other fields.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that this cooperation is free from the political tensions and divisions that some parties are trying to impose outside the framework of political and moral legitimacy.

The Ministry noted, that the reopening of the Tunisian Consulate General in Benghazi is the result of joint efforts by the Government of National Unity and the Tunisian government over the course of a full year, aimed at facilitating the provision of consular services to Libyan citizens and the Tunisian community residing in the eastern region.
