Cairo, May 24, 2025 (LANA) - The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the repatriation of (71) Egyptian citizens in Tripoli after they expressed their desire to return to their country, in light of the recent tensions in the capital.

The Ministry said in a statement on Friday evening that, in implementation of the President's directives to monitor the situation of Egyptians in Libya, the Egyptian government sent an EgyptAir plane to Libya on Friday, repatriating citizens who had previously registered their information with the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli and the operations room formed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the current situation in Tripoli.

The statement explained that the National Committee on Libya has worked in recent days to make all necessary arrangements for the return of Egyptian citizens without incurring any financial burdens, as the Egyptian state bears the expenses.

The Ministry noted that the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli and the operations room continue to monitor developments in Tripoli, stressing the support and care of Egyptians in Libya.

It is worth noting that there are very large numbers of Egyptians working in the Libyan capital and in all regions of western Libya.
