Tripoli, May 23, 2025 (LANA) – Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, discussed the latest security developments in the capital with a delegation of notables and elders from the Souq Al-Jumaa area, the four districts, and the western region.
During a meeting held yesterday, Thursday, the two sides discussed the repercussions of the unfortunate events that have taken place in Tripoli in recent days, and the painful human and material losses they have caused.
Al-Menfi expressed his deep regret for the loss of life and offered his condolences to the families of the victims. He stressed that the state will spare no effort in pursuing those responsible for undermining security and stability, and that the dignity and security of citizens are a non-negotiable priority.
Al-Menfi, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army, affirmed that the political and military leadership is moving steadily to control the situation and impose state authority. He emphasized that the language of weapons will not be a means of resolving disputes, and that the path to stability passes through dialogue, not battlefields.
Al-Menfi recalled the Presidential Council's issuance of Resolution No. (2) of 2025 regarding the consolidation of the ceasefire and the activation of security arrangements, under the direct supervision of the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, to ensure the protection of civilians and the restoration of normal life throughout the capital.
For his part, the delegation of notables and elders praised the tireless efforts made by the President of the Presidential Council to heal the rift and promote the state's logic, expressing their full support for all national initiatives aimed at defusing tension and unifying ranks.
