British Embassy in Libya denies closure rumors.

Tripoli, May 22, 2025 (LANA) – The British Embassy in Libya denied on Thursday the veracity of reports circulating about its closure, stressing that this news is "completely untrue."

The embassy confirmed, in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, that its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, remains open and continues to perform its duties fully, headed by the British Ambassador and a large team of diplomats and officials.

The statement added: "We are not leaving Tripoli at this difficult time. Rather, we continue to work with our international partners to support efforts to de-escalate and enhance stability in the capital."

These statements come in response to recent reports circulating that the embassy intended to suspend its operations or leave Libya, which the embassy categorically denied.
