EU Ambassador to Libya Discusses Implementation of 5+5 Joint Military Committee Commitments.

Tripoli, May 21, 2025 (LANA) - The Director of the Interior Minister's Office and the Director of the General Directorate of Central Support, Major General Abdul Wahid Abdul Samad, and the EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, discussed the implementation of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee's commitments and support for stability efforts in the region.

The meeting, held today, Wednesday, addressed a number of important security issues, most notably the provision of a security force from the General Directorate of Central Support to secure positions and gates on the coastal road linking the cities of Misrata and Sirt.

The issue of qualifying and training Central Support personnel for field missions was also discussed, enhancing their readiness and efficiency in carrying out security operations, in coordination with international support programs in this field. The two parties also discussed completing the plan to secure archaeological sites in cooperation with the Tourist Police and Antiquities Protection Authority, within the terms of the signed agreement aimed at protecting antiquities.
