Tripoli, May 19, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, stressed that the state's vision is clear and explicit, based on the dismantling of all armed formations outside the army and police institutions. This is a prerequisite for building a stable civil state governed solely by legitimate institutions.

This came during his reception on Monday of a number of European ambassadors accredited to Libya, including the European Union Ambassador, the Italian Ambassador, the British Ambassador, the Greek Ambassador, and the French Deputy Ambassador.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for these countries' supportive stances regarding the investigations of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, stressing that cooperation with international justice is part of the government's commitment to combating impunity and ensuring accountability for serious crimes committed against citizens.

The meeting addressed the serious violations committed by some of these armed formations, including murder, kidnapping, torture, and extortion, stressing the need to hold those responsible accountable, according to the government's media office.

According to the media office, the meeting addressed the dangerous role played by some of these groups in supporting organized crime networks, particularly human trafficking and illegal immigration. The Prime Minister emphasized that these activities are now closely linked to some armed groups, which calls for a more resolute international stance in supporting the government's efforts to combat them.

The meeting also discussed issues of joint cooperation between Libya and the European Union, emphasizing the importance of resuming programs supporting stability, institutional development, and combating irregular migration.
