Japan expresses concern over the recent escalation of violence in Tripoli.

Tripoli, May 18, 2025 (LANA) - The Embassy of Japan in Libya expressed its deep concern over the recent escalation of violence in the capital, Tripoli, noting the significant human and material losses caused by the conflict.

In a post on its official Facebook page on Sunday, the embassy confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation and continuing its work in the capital to monitor developments on the ground.

It expressed its solidarity with the concerns of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), considering that the current situation reflects a tragic escalation of violence and negatively impacts civilians.

The embassy added that protecting civilians is an urgent priority, stressing that a lasting ceasefire is essential for achieving peace and stability in Libya.

The Japanese Embassy stressed the need for urgent steps to ensure the protection of civilian lives, stating that stability in Libya requires continued international cooperation to achieve a safe environment for all.
