Misrata, May 17, 2025 (LANA) – The Misrata Municipal Council condemned on Saturday what it called the promotion by some parties of dragging the name of the city of Misrata into the events in Tripoli, rejecting the sowing of discord and division among the people of the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the council affirmed the right of citizens to demonstrate peacefully without vandalizing or encroaching on public and private property.

In its statement, the council emphasized that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) must ensure that any change is brought about through established channels and the outcomes of the Advisory Committee.

The Misrata Municipal Council called for maintaining stability, supporting civil peace, and refraining from resorting to violence and the use of weapons to achieve change.
