Tunis, March 17, 2025 (LANA) – The Republic of Tunisia announced its readiness to host an inter-Libyan dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), as part of its support for the Libyan political process aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement that preserves Libya's unity and meets the aspirations of its people for security and stability.
This came in a statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, expressing its deep concern over the dangerous security escalation in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and its grave repercussions for the safety of Libyans and residents in Libya.
In its statement, Tunisia called for an immediate end to the escalation in all Libyan regions, stressing the need to reject violence, cease the use of weapons, and adopt dialogue as the only way to resolve disputes between Libyan parties.
Tunisia stressed the importance of prioritizing the voice of wisdom and prioritizing the supreme national interest within a framework of comprehensive consensus among the various Libyan parties. This would enable effective engagement in a comprehensive political process under UN supervision, leading to an end to the violence, achieving progress in the political process leading to the organization of general elections, and building unified and permanent institutions that take into account the interests of all Libyans without exception or exclusion, and that preserve the sovereignty, unity, and stability of the Libyan state.
Tunisia also expressed its unwavering commitment to continuing to support the efforts of our Libyan brothers to reach a Libyan-Libyan solution stemming from their free will, free from any foreign interference, affirming its readiness to provide the appropriate groundwork for this national dialogue, serving the path to peace and stability in Libya and the region.
