Tripoli, May 16, 2025 (LANA) – The Government of National Unity expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior personnel for their efforts in securing the demonstration held in Martyrs' Square in the capital, Tripoli, and for their full commitment to protecting demonstrators and maintaining public order.

In a press statement published by the "Our Government" platform on Friday evening, the government affirmed that the right to peaceful demonstration is one of the gains of the February 17 Revolution. It has remained available in western Libya and is freely expressed within legal frameworks and with respect for state institutions.

According to the statement, the government reiterated its vision that achieving lasting stability in Libya requires ending all entities that have seized power for more than a decade and contributed to prolonging the political division and obstructing state building. It emphasized that ending armed groups and fully aligning with regular police and security forces is a widespread popular demand that constitutes the cornerstone of building a state of law and institutions.
