Tripoli, May 16, 2025 (LANA) - The Ministers of Local Government, Housing, and Utilities in the Government of National Unity, Badr Eddine Al-Toumi and Abu Bakr Al-Ghawi, submitted their resignations from the government.

The two ministers said in a joint statement on Friday evening that in these difficult times our country is going through, when the voice of truth and wisdom must be the only voice, and work must be directed to serve the Libyan people, we have, despite numerous attempts to correct the course from within the government, found no receptive ears to our efforts that would respond to the voice of truth, prioritize the public interest, and respond to the demands of the people.

They added in the statement - which they published on their social media pages - "Therefore, in this situation, after all our efforts for internal reform have failed, we can only stand with the Libyan people and implement their will. Accordingly, we submit our resignations in solidarity with and support for the people, in support of their direction, to complete the reform process, and to stop the shedding of Libyan blood."
