Tripoli, May 16, 2025 (LANA) – The European Union Delegation to Libya confirmed that it continues to operate in the capital, Tripoli, with its full staff, noting that it is actively cooperating with all relevant parties to support Libya in facing current challenges.
In a tweet posted by its Head of Mission to Libya, Ambassador Nicola Orlando, on the X platform, the mission denied the accuracy of misleading information circulating claiming otherwise, stressing its full commitment to supporting the Libyan people in their efforts towards peace and stability.
The mission renewed its call to all relevant parties to protect civilians, respect the ceasefire, avoid escalation, and cooperate with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to de-escalate tensions and revive a genuine and inclusive political process leading to national elections.
The mission also urged Libyan institutions to promote freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, stressing the importance of holding those responsible for violations accountable.
The European official concluded his tweet by emphasizing that the Libyan people deserve peace, unity, and a future of democracy, stability, and prosperity, stressing the European Union's full readiness to support all Libyan parties in achieving this goal.
