Tripoli, May 16, 2025 (LANA) - Presidential Council member Musa Al-Koni announced his full support for what he described as the anticipated popular movement in the capital, Tripoli, to demand a state of law, justice, and truth, and to end the sounds of bullets and artillery in the capital's skies. Al-Koni said in a statement - a copy of which was received by the Libyan News Agency - "The right to demonstrate and to peacefully express your legitimate demands is firmly guaranteed to you, in accordance with Sharia, custom, and the law. Continue, and make this promising movement that brings you together today a historic turning point that will shape the future of the entire nation and, with God's help, lead us to the greater goal we await: organizing elections and choosing who will lead this stage."
He warned against attempts to disrupt the demonstrations, saying: "Today, you are raising slogans of olive branch and safety to confront the sounds of cannons and bullets. Do not allow any infiltrator or criminal to steal the peaceful nature of your noble movement and divert it from its legitimate goals of achieving justice and democracy."
Presidential Council member Musa Al-Koni concluded his statement by saying: "This freedom opens its doors to you and requires no violence, dispersion, or aggression against state or individual property." He called on the security and police forces to protect demonstrators and private and public property.
