Dbaiba meets with British Ambassador.

Tripoli, May 15, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, discussed on Thursday with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, ways to enhance judicial cooperation with the International Criminal Court, coordination on human rights issues, and holding accountable those involved in serious violations.
The meeting also reviewed security developments in the capital, Tripoli, according to the Prime Minister's media office.
Dbaiba emphasized that the recent security operation was part of the state's efforts to enforce the law and end an irregular presence linked to a record of serious human rights violations, including unlawful detention, ill-treatment, and obstruction of justice.
Dbaiba explained that the operation was carried out calmly and without confrontation. However, the following day witnessed unfortunate military incidents in the capital, which the relevant authorities dealt with responsibly to maintain stability.
Dbaiba, added that he chose to postpone clarifying the details of the operation, out of concern for the success of de-escalation efforts. He will address the Libyan people in the coming days in a detailed statement, committed to transparency and citizens' right to know the truth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides discussed the European Operation Irini, with Dabaiba stressing the importance of developing its mechanisms to ensure respect for Libyan sovereignty and achieving a balance between combating arms smuggling and protecting national maritime and commercial interests.
