Aboul Gheit calls on all actors in Libya to stop the escalation

Cairo, May 14, 2025 (LANA) - The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called on all active parties in Libya to de-escalate, assume national responsibility, and resort to dialogue.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, he expressed deep concern over the armed clashes in the capital, Tripoli, which have terrorized civilians, threatened the lives of safe residents, and disrupted daily life.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League stressed that these unfortunate developments, with their recurrence, once again highlight the urgent need to move forward with a comprehensive national consensus to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people for security and stability.

Aboul Gheit affirmed the Arab League's commitment to shouldering its inherent responsibilities towards Libya and supporting all efforts aimed at ending the crisis through a peaceful and inclusive Libyan solution.
