Tripoli's Council of Elders and Notables condemns the war in the capital's streets and demands the expulsion of armed groups.

Tripoli, May 14, 2025 (LANA) – The Council of Elders and Notables of Central Tripoli strongly condemned what it described as "the war raging in the streets of the capital," holding the Presidential Council, the Government of National Unity, and the Chief of Staff, along with all conflicting parties, fully responsible for protecting the lives and property of civilians.

In a statement, the Council stressed that what is happening in Tripoli threatens the security and safety of the population and undermines overall stability. It urgently called for a halt to the fighting and to spare civilians the scourge of armed conflict.

The Council reiterated its previous demands for the withdrawal of all armed groups under any name from within the capital, Tripoli. It called for an end to armed presence outside state authority and for security to be imposed through official institutions only.

The Council also called on the Mayor of Central Tripoli and the Municipal Council to take a firm and clear stance rejecting the war and to take practical steps to remove all armed groups from the center of the capital, to preserve the security of the population and the city's institutions.
