Tripoli, May 14, 2025 (LANA) – The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity announced this morning, Wednesday, the commencement of a ceasefire across all areas of tension within the capital, Tripoli, to preserve the safety of civilians and protect state institutions.

The Ministry confirmed that regular forces, in coordination with the relevant security authorities, have begun taking the necessary measures to ensure calm by deploying neutral units at points of contact with the aim of preventing any field clashes that could rekindle tensions in the capital.

The Ministry explained that its handling of the recent developments stems from a national duty, ensuring the protection of public order and preventing attempts to exploit the situation to achieve agendas that conflict with the legitimacy of the state and its institutions.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that unity, strengthening the rule of law, and dismantling random armaments will remain unwavering priorities, affirming that it will not allow the imposition of a fait accompli by force of arms or outside the official framework of the state.

At the conclusion of its statement, the Ministry called on all parties to fully adhere to the ceasefire and refrain from any statements or actions that could rekindle tensions.
