Tripoli, May 14, 2025 (LANA) - The Tripoli Central Municipal Council issued a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire and the use of reason, warning of serious repercussions that threaten civil peace and widen the divide between Libyan cities and components.

In the statement, the council warned of the escalation of armed clashes in the center of the Libyan capital, turning its streets into a battlefield between citizens of the same nation.

The statement emphasized that the ongoing fighting between brothers is a direct result of the lack of wisdom in dealing with the security situation, as well as the government's lack of a clear vision regarding the arms issue, which has opened the door to the proliferation of weapons and threatened the safety of civilians.

The statement added that the continuation of the fighting will lead to long-term hostilities between brothers, benefiting only the enemies of the nation who are lurking to threaten its security and stability.

The Municipal Council issued an urgent call to all parties to embrace dialogue and sit at the table to find solutions, to preserve Libyan blood and safeguard the capital, which represents the beating heart of the country.
