Tripoli, May 11, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, met on Sunday with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Hannah Tetteh, who briefed her on the results of the mission's advisory committee.

During the meeting, Tetteh emphasized that the proposals presented are not binding, but represent a foundation upon which to build, along with other proposals that could be considered. She expressed her aspiration to receive the government's comments on the briefing, in preparation for incorporating them into a more comprehensive vision for a solution.

For his part, Dabaiba stressed that the real solution lies in direct elections, as this is the only way to end the transitional phases and enable the people to exercise their right to choose their representatives, especially after recent developments that undermine the credibility and integrity of the performance of some political bodies, revealing that they operate under intimidation and illegitimate pressure, according to the Prime Minister's media office.

According to the media office, the meeting addressed the case of MP Ibrahim Al-Darsi. Both parties agreed on the need to open a transparent international investigation into what happened to him, stressing that what happened constitutes a serious violation that requires accountability.

The Prime Minister called for the importance of providing a safe environment that guarantees the independence of decision-making for members of the House of Representatives. He stated, "What appeared in the leaked video is stark evidence of the lack of protection and the prevalence of intimidation, which undermines the chances of reaching a national solution through these means."

The two sides also addressed the case of the missing MP, Siham Sergiwa, stressing the importance of revealing her fate, as this is a humanitarian and national demand.

Dabaiba stated that these crimes, which are purely political in nature, reflect a blatant challenge to the principles of justice and require a clear international stance to end impunity.
