Tripoli, May 11, 2025 (LANA) - President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, affirmed his support for all UN initiatives with national ownership stemming from the consensus of the five institutions emerging from the political agreement, in accordance with the Security Council plan.
This came during his reception on Sunday in the capital, Tripoli, of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Hanna Tetteh.
According to the media office of the President of the Council, the meeting addressed developments in the Libyan file, particularly those related to the human rights track, the independence and free will of the House of Representatives, the legal status of the head of the Electoral Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, and the extent of the Commission's independence, impartiality, and commitment to constitutional requirements.
The UN envoy presented to the President of the Presidential Council the findings and recommendations of the mission's advisory committee.
According to the media office, Menfi affirmed his intention to inform the Libyan people of the outcomes of the UN mission's advisory committee.
