Tripoli, 11 May 2025 (Lana): UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs Stephanie Koury held a fruitful discussion with a delegation from the Libyan Organization for Intellectuals, headed by Dr. Ahmed Abdalla Al-Khalifa, chairman of the organization’s General Assembly.

The delegation commended the completion of the Advisory Committee’s work and the need for political dialogue that brings together various Libyan factions.

The two sides shared their views on the numerous challenges, including financial concerns, proliferation of weapons, political divisions, and their impact on the Libyan people, particularly youth and women, and specifically in the South.

“We discussed the importance of unified and strengthened institutions, a sustainable, diversified economy, and the holding of national elections. I thanked their support of UNSMIL's efforts and outlined the importance of building consensus, including public support, on a way forward to accomplish these objectives,” Koury said in a tweet.
