Tripoli, May 10, 2025 (LANA) - Head of the National Emergency Committee, Nasr Al-Mahtout, reassured all citizens that no reports of human or material damage have been received so far as a result of the earthquake felt by the residents of Tripoli. He called on citizens to avoid spreading rumors.
In a statement published on the official page of the Ministry of Local Government, Al-Mahtout confirmed that the situation is stable, and that all members of the committee and relevant authorities are monitoring developments in coordination with the competent technical authorities. He called on citizens to obtain information from official sources and avoid spreading rumors.
Al-Mahtout said that the National Emergency Committee and relevant authorities have been closely monitoring the situation since reports emerged that some citizens felt an earthquake this evening, Saturday, at 6:35 PM local time.
The head of the committee explained that the earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale, occurred off the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 124 kilometers northeast of the capital, Tripoli.
